Lawrence and Lazor qualify for 200 breaststroke finals at Olympic Trials

Micah Lawrence and Annie Lazor are both one swim away from a spot on Team USA and a berth in the Rio Olympics.

Lawrence, who finished sixth in the 200-meter breaststroke in the London Olympics in 2012, qualified second and Lazor seventh in the same event's semifinals on Thursday night at the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb. Lawrence swam a 2:24.66 to win the second heat and qualify second for Friday night's finals. Lazor, swimming next to hear in the semis, clocked a 2:26.68 to qualify seventh.

Lawrence had qualified first for the semis after swimming a 2:26.27 in prelims. Lazor qualified third with a 2:27.48 prelims showing.

Lilly King holds the top spot heading into Friday's finals after posting a 2:24.03 during the semifinals.

Friday's prelims will include the men's 50m freestyle (Zach Apple, Kyle Darmody, Michael Duderstadt), the women's 800m freestyle (Ashley Neidigh), men's 100m butterfly (Foster Ballard, Liam McCloskey) and the women's 200m backstroke (Annie Boone, Erin Falconer). All prelims can be seen live on the NBC Sports Extra App and all finals sessions can be seen on NBC. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. CT and finals at 7 p.m.
