In the third of a nine-part installment, AuburnTigers.com asked nine questions of the returning and incoming members of the 2016-17 Auburn women's golf team. Next up: junior Kelli Murphy.
1. What are you doing this summer?
Kelli: I was home for the month of June playing tournaments and then I came back to campus for classes in July.
2. What's the strangest/funniest thing you've ever seen on the golf course?
Kelli: We have an island green at our home course and when I was putting on the green, a scuba diver came out of the water in full scuba gear with a bunch of golf balls. The course had hired him to retrieve them.
3. Your dream foursome ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" who are the three people you would want to play 18 holes with, and why?
Kelli: My dream foursome would be Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake, and Tom Brady. The first two because of their humor and love for golf, and Tom Brady just because I'm a huge Patriots fan.
4. What do you do to get away from golf and school? What's your escape in your down time?
Kelli: I'll either go to the pool or hang my hammock up somewhere and listen to music to relax.
5. What was it about Auburn that made it stand out above other schools you considered?
Kelli: Auburn stood out to me because of it's incredible practice facilities for golf as well it's sense of tradition and family atmosphere.
6. If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
Kelli: I'd play Soccer. It was the first sport I ever played and I've always loved it.
7. What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
Kelli: My favorite Auburn tradition is releasing the eagle at the beginning of each football game. I get chills every time.
8. Is there a golfer whose game you have tried to emulate, or have you developed your own game?
Kelli: Not really, but I've always wanted to be a great short game player like Phil (Mickelson).
9. Golf courses: what's the toughest course you've played, your favorite course that you've played, and one that you most want to play?
Toughest: Stanford University Golf Course
Favorite: Thornblade CC in Greenville, S.C.
Most want to play: Augusta National
