2016-17 Auburn Women's Golf Schedule

AUBURN, Ala. â€" Nine regular-season tournaments â€" including five new events â€" highlight the 2016-17 Auburn women's golf schedule, which was released Friday by head coach Melissa Luellen.

"Coach (Andrew) Pratt and I are excited about our 2016-17 golf schedule as we will travel to some beautiful places with more important, great golf courses," Luellen said. "We have a few new tournaments which will require our team to make quick adjustments and learn the new courses in the practice rounds, but I feel some fresh tournaments will be enjoyable for our players."

"We will be playing five events in the fall so we can take advantage of courses being in great condition and mild weather. Pinehurst is one of the new events which is always a treat visit for someone that loves the game of golf. We will also return to San Antonio where Auburn had great success two years ago."

The season begins with a one-day event Sept. 6 at the Fall Kickoff in Duluth, Ga. Play continues at the Mason Rudolph Championship (Sept. 16-18) just outside Nashville where the Tigers had their best team showing last season.

The Cougar Classic (Oct. 2-4), traditionally the season-opener, moves to early October, followed by a trip to the Pinehurst Challenge (Oct. 10-11), which will be played on Pinehurst No. 1 at the historic North Carolina resort. Fall play wraps up at the Alamo Invitational (Oct. 23-25) at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, where the Tigers came within one stroke of setting the school 54-hole scoring record in 2014.

Auburn returns to the UCF Challenge (Feb. 5-7) for the first time since 2012 to open the spring season. Two straight trips to South Carolina follow with the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (March 3-5) in Hilton Head Island and the Briar's Creek Invitational (March 20-21) in Johns Island. The regular season concludes with the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (April 7-9) in Athens, Ga.

The SEC Championship returns to Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham for the fifth straight year April 21-23. Auburn will seek a return to NCAA Regional play May 8-10 with host sites in Albuquerque, N.M.; Greenville, N.C.; Columbus, Ohio; and Lubbock, Texas. The NCAA Championship runs May 19-24 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., which was the site of the 2009 Solheim Cup.
