AUBURN, Ala. - In its first action against an opponent this preseason, the Auburn women's soccer team scored twice in a 2-2 stalemate with in-state foe Alabama on Thursday night. Ellie Leek and Taylor Troutman took care of the offense for the Tigers at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

Auburn netted eight shots on goal from seven different sources in the 90-minute affair. Leek paced the team with two shots that landed on frame.

The Crimson Tide got on the board in the eighth minute when a header from a corner kick found the back of the net. Despite a bevy of attacks, the Tigers were unable to tie it up and trailed by one goal heading into halftime.

Auburn responded in the opening minute of the second half when Troutman smashed a shot from outside the box passed the goalkeeper after linking up with Casie Ramsier and Dani Solaru to tie it up at 1-1.

Eleven minutes later, Alabama regained the lead on a counter-attack to take a 2-1 margin.

Kristen Dodson was then taken down in the box in the 79th minute to earn a penalty for the Tigers. Leek was called upon and delivered a laser to the back of the net and knotted it back up at 2-2.

Both teams mounted attacks but were unable to break the deadlock and settled for a draw.

Auburn returns to the pitch for its final tune-up when it travels to Mercer for an exhibition on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
