AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The No. 12 Auburn soccer team has its sights set on leveling its record with it travels to South Alabama for a non-conference road clash on Sunday. The ball is set to begin rolling at 6 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
The Tigers (0-1-0) take a plethora of positives with them to their in-state foe's home field. In a 2-0 defeat to No. 14 Clemson, Auburn held an advantage in shots, 12-11, and maintained a 4-2 margin in saves.
Since 2010, Auburn has bounced back well following a loss. The Tigers are an impressive 25-11-3 in matches following a defeat in the past six seasons.
Auburn has fared well against South Alabama (0-0-1) in series history. The Tigers hold a commanding 10-1-0 lead in the series and have won the last eight meetings, dating back to 1993. In the matchup last season, Casie Ramsier and Taylor Troutman got on the scoreboard and Ellie Leek tallied two assists to key a 2-1 victory at home.
Following the duel with the Jaguars, Auburn will play host to Cal State Fullerton on Friday, Aug. 26. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Scouting South Alabama
The Jaguars drew their opening match against Samford on Friday night, 0-0. South Alabama returns nine starters from a team that ranked in the top-10 in the nation in goals, assists and shots per game in 2015. Forwards Ashlynn Jones and Charde Hannah return after combining for 20 goals a season ago. Goalkeeper Sarah Hay leads the way between the posts with nine shutouts in the last two campaigns.
Familiar Faces
Auburn has a rarity in college and that is having two sets of sisters on the same squad ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" the Ramsier's (Brooke and Casie) and the Solaru's (Dani and Samantha). There are only five other schools in the country with two sets of sisters on the same team. The Tigers' quartet leads the nation among sisters in total career points with 99. UNC Asheville (49), Cal State Northridge (24), Liberty (15) and Loyola (0) each have two sets of sisters and trail Auburn in the career points category.
Player to Watch: Brooke Ramsier
Leading the midfield into the contest, the Tigers have fared well when Brooke Ramsier registers a point. Auburn has won the last six matches when Brooke Ramsier has tallied either a goal or an assist. The Tigers are 12-3-1 when the Dallas, Texas native has notched at least one point in her career.
Academic Success: Three Graduates
Three of Auburn's outstanding student-athletes have already graduated. Kiana Clarke, Casie Ramsier and Alyse Scott all picked up their degrees at the conclusion of the summer term in early August. Clarke and Casie Ramsier graduated from the Harbert College of Business, while Scott graduated from the College of Liberal Arts. Casie Ramsier served as the Harbert College of Business' marshal on graduation day, ushering a plethora of fellow graduates.
