Auburn Hosts Kennesaw State Tuesday in Auburn Arena

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn volleyball team welcomes Kennesaw State to Auburn Arena Tuesday for a mid-week, non-conference match. The Tigers (0-3) and the Owls (1-2) face off at 7 p.m. CT and admission is free.

QUICK HITS
- The Tigers opened the 2016 season hosting the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn Arena, Aug. 26-27. The team welcomed Georgia Tech, Furman, and Pacific to the two-day tournament.
- Auburn faced Georgia Tech to kick the season off and fell to the Yellow Jackets, 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18), Friday night.
- The Tigers competed twice on Saturday, starting with SoCon defending champion Furman. The Paladins defeated Auburn, 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16).
- Auburn closed out the War Eagle Invitational against Pacific and fell to the visiting Tigers, 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-17).
- Sophomore Brenna McIlroy was placed on the War Eagle Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts this past weekend. The Garland, Texas, product totaled 34 kills over 11 sets played for a 3.09 kills/set average. McIlroy also had a pair of double-digit kill performances, having 15 vs. Furman and 11 against the Yellow Jackets.
- Junior libero Jesse Earl finished the opening weekend strong, having double-digit dig numbers in all three matches played. She totaled a match-high 24 digs against Georgia Tech and added 23 digs in the team's match vs. Furman. Earl capped the weekend with 12 digs against Pacific. Earl's 5.36 digs/set average currently leads all student-athletes in the SEC.

SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
- The Owls hosted the Kennesaw State Invitational, Aug. 26-27, to open 2016 and finished the weekend with a 1-2 overall record.
- KSU opened the year with a five-set loss to Missouri Friday night. The team followed with a 3-1 win over Liberty before falling in three sets to Pittsburgh Saturday.
- Katarina Morton was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.67 digs/set over 12 sets played. She tied a school record with 27 digs in the win over Liberty.
- A pair of sophomores lead the Owls offensively in Sydni Shelton and Liesl Engelbrecht. Shelton leads the team with 27 kills so far this season, while Engelbrecht has 18 kills and 11 blocks.

The Tigers go away from Auburn for the first time this season with a road trip to Louisville for the Active Ankle Challenge, Sept. 2-3. Auburn will take on Stony Brook, Santa Clara, and host Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center.
