Auburn men's tennis will open it's 2016 fall season this weekend as four players travel to Cary, N.C. to compete in the Duke James Bonk Invitational.
"I think the guys are ready. We have had about a good week and half of practice," said Coach Bobby Reynolds. "I think they are excited and ready to be done with practice and start getting out there and playing some matches. It will be good."
Max Hinnisdaels and Conner Huertas del Pino, both seniors, will be travelling to Duke along with sophomore Brandon Laubser and freshman Carles Sarrio.
Not only will it be the first match of the fall season, but also the first match for Coach Bobby Reynolds as the Auburn Tigers head coach.
"I am excited. It has been a blast the last couple weeks, months and really getting to know each player off the court first," said Reynolds. "That was my goal when I came in and try to gain their trust, learn and understand them as a person first before even talking the X's and O's of tennis."
The invite starts on Friday, September 16 and finishes on Sunday, September 18. Representatives from twelve teams will compete throughout the weekend.
Huertas opens up play against Robert Kelly from UNC on Friday in the men singles (white). Hinnisdaels, top seed after draw, and Laubser will play in the men's singles blue division while Sarrio plays in the men's single black division.
The Auburn Tigers will host the SEC Fall tournament as their only home match during the fall season on October 23- 26.
