No. 14 Auburn men's golf opens play at Inverness Intercollegiate

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" No. 14 Auburn men's golf tees off at the Inverness Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at the par 71, 7,323-yard Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

The 13-team field includes No. 22 Duke, Austin Peay, Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Saint Mary's (CA), host Toledo and Virginia.

Senior Ryan Benton will be in the No. 1 spot for the Tigers. The Dothan, Ala., native finished in a 3-way tie for runner-up at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and is averaging 68.66.

All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest (72.66) will be No. 2. The Southlake, Texas, native tied for 30th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. Junior All-America Ben Schlottman will make his season debut at No. 3.

Sophomore Trace Crowe and senior Will Long round out the lineup at Nos. 4 and 5. Crowe, a Bluffton, S.C., native is averaging 70.00 after tying for 11th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate as an individual, while Long, a native of Gastonia, N.C., tied for ninth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and is averaging 69.66,

All-Southeast Region sophomore Jacob Solomon will play as an individual. The Dublin, Calif., native tied for 19th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and is averaging 71.66.

The Tigers tee off No.1 with Toledo and Michigan State with a shotgun start at 8:30 am CT. The first and second rounds will be played Monday with the final round on Tuesday. Live-scoring for the tournament can be found at birdiefire
