AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn women's tennis will open the 2016 fall season as four players travel to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invite. The three-day tournament will feature 16 teams, including SEC rival Alabama, along with Texas and TCU from the Big 12.
Representing Auburn will be Alizee Michaud, Caroline Turner, Taylor Russo and Georgie Axon. 2016 All-American Michaud is 25th in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings and will face off against No. 120 Julia O'Loughlin of Denver in the opening round of the Flight 1A singles bracket.
Michaud pairs with freshman Russo as the No. 27 doubles team in the preseason rankings and will open the Flight 1A doubles bracket against Rice's Dominika Bashota and Olaya Garrido Rivas. Russo will also join Michaud in the Flight 1A singles bracket against No. 82 Neda Koprcina of Texas.
Turner and Axon will join Michaud and Russo in the Flight 1A doubles bracket against No. 41 O'Loughlin and Slattery of Denver. Axon will compete in the Flight 1B singles bracket against Garrido Rivas from TCU, while Turner will be in the Flight 2B singles bracket against Denver's Gracia Mboko.
Friday's schedule consists of one doubles and one singles match, while Saturday will feature two doubles matches and one singles. The tournament concludes on Sunday with the final round of singles. Match play begins each day at 8:30 a.m.
