AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn offensive lineman Alex Kozan, recognized in August with preseason honors for his football exploits, is a semifinalist for a postgraduate award that encompasses his classroom and community work, too.

Kozan is one of 156 semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Wednesday.

Each nominee must be a senior or graduate student and have a grade point average of at least 3.2 and must have "outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship," the National Football Foundation said.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 1. Each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The winner will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship during the awards dinner Dec. 1.

Kozan is also on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, which goes to college football's top lineman. He was named to the preseason All-SEC first team by league coaches and by the media at SEC Media Days.
