AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn women's tennis team will continue it's fall slate as it heads to Tuscaloosa for the USTA/ITA Southern Regional on October 14-17. Seventeen teams will be competing in the four-day event including SEC opponents Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
Andie Dikosavljevic will look to defend her regional singles title from a year ago, when she defeated LSU's Jessica Golovin, 7-6, 6-4.
Auburn's No. 27 Alizee Michaud and Taylor Russo enter the competition fresh off a run to the main draw round-of-16 at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships last weekend. The duo defeated picked up four wins, including victories over Florida's No. 19 Belinda Woolcock and Josie Kuhlman and Denver's No. 41 Julia O'Loughlin and Maureen Slattery.
Auburn has had a regional champion in three-straight seasons. In 2013, Pleun Burgmans became the first Tiger to win the singles championship since Fani Chifchieva won it in 2009. Burgmans and Emily Flickinger won back-to-back doubles titles in 2013-14.
Play will begin Friday morning at 9 a.m. with the first round of doubles, followed by the first and second rounds of singles play.
