Tigers Open Fall Season with Four Games at Home

AUBURN, Ala.
- The quest for a return trip to the Women's College World Series is set to begin when the Auburn softball team opens its fall schedule, Oct. 15-16. The Tigers will host four games in a busy weekend at Jane B. Moore Field.

Auburn first hosts a round-robin tournament that also includes Mississippi Gulf Coast CC and Wallace State CC-Dothan on Saturday afternoon. The two guests will square off at 12 p.m. before the Tigers take on Mississippi Gulf Coast CC at 2:30 p.m. and Wallace State CC-Dothan at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Auburn will battle Daytona State in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.

The return of softball games at Jane B. Moore Field also marks the return of the Beat Bama Food Drive. Attendees who bring a non-perishable food item will receive a $1 beverage voucher toward any drink in the concession stand for all home games during the fall slate.

The Tigers return a plethora of everyday players from the team that reached the National Championship last season and led the nation in scoring. All-American and espnW Player of the Year Kasey Cooper comes back for her final season after ranking in the top-5 nationally in home runs (21) and RBI (83).

Auburn also brings back eight field players who saw action in 40-plus games last season in Jenna Abbott, Victoria Draper, Bree Fornis, Madi Gipson, Whitney Jordan, Morgan Podany, Courtney Shea and Carlee Wallace.

In the circle, Kaylee Carlson and Makayla Martin pace the staff after combining for 146.2 innings and 135 strikeouts in 2016.

All fall games are free of charge and open to the public.
