AUBURN, Ala. - No. 2 Auburn men's golf tees off at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at the par 70, 7,209-yard Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala.
The 12-team field includes No. 16 Florida State, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Charlotte, Michigan, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Texas-San Antonio, UAB and UNLV.
Senior Ryan Benton will be in the No. 1 spot for the Tigers. The Dothan, Ala., native has finished in the top-4 in both tournaments this fall, tying for runner-up at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and tying for fourth at the Inverness Intercollegiate. He is averaging 69.50.
Senior Will Long will be No. 2. The Gastonia, N.C., native is averaging 69.83 and has finished in the top-10 in both tournaments played, finishing third at the Inverness Intercollegiate and tying for ninth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest (71.50) will be No. 3. The Southlake, Texas, native tied a career-low and the second-lowest round in school history with his opening round 64 at the Inverness Intercollegiate where he finished in a tie for fourth.
Freshman Jovan Rebula, fresh off his appearance at the World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico as a member of Team South Africa, will be No. 4. The George, South Africa, native t-25th in his collegiate debut at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
Rounding out the lineup is junior All-America Ben Schlottman (72.33), who t-23rd at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
The Tigers tee off No.1 with Florida State and UNLV with a shotgun start at 8:20 am CT. The first and second rounds will be played Monday with the final round on Tuesday. Live-scoring for the tournament can be found at GolfStat.
