Auburn Cross Country heads to SEC Championships

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn men's and women's cross country team will head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Southeastern Conference Championships on Friday at Agri Park. The women's 6k is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT, while the men's 8k will begin at 11 a.m.

The Tigers are coming off of two fifth place finishes at the Crimson Classic, where senior Veronica Eder picked up a personal best 20:20.10 for a second place finish in the women's 6k. Eder's time in the 6k ranks as the seventh-best time in the SEC this season.

Last season, Brenda Kigen earned All-SEC honors with a fourth-place finish at the SEC Championship, finishing with a time of 19:58.10. Kigen's finish was the best by an Auburn female since 2010, when Holly Knight placed second.

Junior Anna Nelson has been Auburn's second scorer in four of five races this season. She finished 29th at the Crimson Classic on Oct. 14 with a personal best time of 21:43.20 in the women's 6k.

On the men's side, Kevin Wyss has been the top scorer for the Tiger in every race this season. Wyss finished 11th at the Crimson Classic with a time of 24:57.60.

A one-hour SEC Cross Country Championships highlight show will air Sunday, Nov. 6 at 10a.m. CT on the SEC Network. Tyler Denning and Larry Rawson will have the call. Live scoring will be available at SECSports.com and ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
