AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Riding a four-match winning streak, the No. 18 Auburn soccer team is set to welcome Mississippi State for a conference clash on Sunday afternoon. The ball is scheduled to get rolling at 2 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
The Tigers (9-4-0, 5-1-0 SEC) have taken their last four conference battles, outscoring opponents 10-3 in that span, including two shutouts.
Auburn holds a decisive 15-4-1 advantage in the all-time series against Mississippi State (6-7-0, 1-5-0). The Tigers are unbeaten in matches at the Auburn Soccer Complex in 11 contests (10-0-1).
The home team is in search of its first five-game winning streak since it did it twice last season. The Tigers opened the 2015 season with six consecutive victories and held a five-match winning streak from Sept. 13-Oct. 1.
Auburn recently took a 2-1 decision at Kentucky on Thursday night in come-from-behind fashion. Despite falling behind in the 13th minute, Kristen Dodson and Bri Folds both got on the scoresheet to key the road win, increasing the Tigers' road winning streak to five consecutive matches.
In the match, Brooke Ramsier and Casie Ramsier combined for three assists, while Sarah Le Beau notched her ninth win of the season in goal.
Following its duel on Sunday, Auburn then hosts No. 11 Arkansas in a contest featuring two of the top teams in the conference. Kickoff against the Razorbacks is set for Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.
Player to Watch: Courtney Schell
Junior midfielder Courtney Schell has been a key component to the Auburn midfield. The Tigers are 4-0 in 2016 when Schell registers a point and has outscored opponents 10-3 in those games. Schell most recently got on the register when she fired a header at No. 12 Florida to seal the win in Gainesville.
A Win by Auburn WouldÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦
A win by Auburn would send the Tigers to their first five-match winning streak in conference play since 2004. That team went on to finish the SEC slate 9-0-2 and win the Western Division.
