Brandon Laubser Wins Singles Title At Georgia Tech Invite

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn sophomore Brandon Laubser won the Flight 3 singles title with a victory Sunday at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta.

Laubser, who went 4-0 in singles over the weekend, captured the championship with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Vanderbilt's Tate Allwardt. His previous wins came over players from Miami, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

Laubser teamed with Edward Nguyen to go 2-1 in doubles over the weekend, taking an 8-5 decision from Florida's Joseph Guillin and David Sarkissov in Sunday's consolation round.

Nguyen went 3-1 in singles play, advancing to the semifinals and defeating Phillip Gresk of Georgia Tech 6-4, 6-2 in consolation action Sunday.

Conner Huertas del Pino captured the consolation title in Flight 2 with a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (10-4) victory Sunday over Scott Jones of Tennessee. Huertas del Pino was 3-1 in singles for the weekend, and he was 1-1 in doubles paired with Max Hinnisdaels before Hinnisdaels withdrew with an injury. Hinnisdaels was 1-1 in singles, with his win coming 7-5, 6-3 over Panu Virtanen of Vanderbilt.

Teams participating were Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
