Auburn vs. UConn

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Fresh off a dominant performance to open the NCAA Tournament last weekend, the No. 16 Auburn soccer team is ready to take on a new opponent in No. 13 UConn Friday afternoon. The second round matchup is slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff in Gainesville, Fla. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium and will be carried on the SEC Network+.

The Tigers (15-6-0) recently defeated South Alabama 4-0 at the Auburn Soccer Complex to begin the annual postseason tournament. The result marked the biggest win in program history in the NCAA Tournament and set a school mark for most goals scored in the tournament.

Brooke Ramsier led the way with two goals and one assist in a career-best five-point match. Haley Gerken and Casie Ramsier each notched a goal, while Kristen Dodson chimed in two assists.

Auburn has advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the ninth time in program history and for the third season in a row, matching a record set by the 2002-04 teams.

The Tigers bring a strong road game with them to the Sunshine State as they are 7-2 away from home this season, outscoring opponents 21-13, including 17-9 in true road matches.

Doing a bulk of the scoring up front has been the dynamic duo of Casie Ramsier and Dodson. The standouts tout 12 and 11 goals, respectively, and are just the second pair to have 10-plus goals in a season for Auburn all-time. Tammy Waine (16) and Ginger Sellick (12) accomplished the feat in 2000.

The Huskies (19-2-1) won the American Athletic Conference and also boast a strong scoring front pairing. Stephanie Ribeiro is the nation's leading goal scorer with 21 to her name, while Rachel Hill has netted 16. The rest of the team has combined to chip in eight on the season.

The winner of the match will take on the winner of the No. 9 Florida-Wisconsin matchup Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Gainesville, Fla.

Player to Watch: Sarah Le Beau

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau has been a force in the net for the Tigers this season. The Crystal Ridge, Ill. native has stopped 59 shots this season, including 34 against teams outside the SEC. In non-conference matches alone in 2016, Le Beau has tallied a shutout four times and has held the opposition to one goal or fewer in six instances for Auburn.

Through the Stat Sheet

While Casie Ramsier (12) and Dodson (10) pace the team in goals, Brooke Ramsier is next on the list with six to her tally, while she leads in assists with 11. Dodson has assisted on 10 goals, while Bri Folds is close behind with nine. Courtney Schell and Taylor Troutman have each notched four assists with Avery Batson, Ashton Brock, Gianna Montini and Dani Solaru contributing one apiece.
