AUBURN, Ala. -- Jeremy Johnson has always been there for his teammates, whether when it he started last year, or when he was on the bench this year -- or when he was called upon Saturday night.

Johnson made just his third appearance of the season a memorable one when he ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in helping Auburn beat Alabama A&M 55-0 on Senior Day in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Johnson, who started nine games last season, made his first start this season count. And he may be counted on to start again next Saturday at Alabama should injured Sean White not be able to go.

Johnson said his teammates have rallied around him as White nursed his sore shoulder.

"They know I'd do anything for them. They'd do anything for me," he said. "They never turned their back on me with all I've been through."

Johnson ran for a touchdown and threw for another score in the first six minutes. He finished hitting 14 of 19 passes for 147 yards. He rushed for 42 yards as well, playing mostly in the first half. He scored Auburn's first touchdown on a 7-yard run, then threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Davis, then scored on a 1-yard run. Auburn improved to 8-3 with the convincing win heading before heading to Alabama. Johnson said he was thankful to contribute.

"It means a lot, another chance and opportunity to play with my teammates that I enjoy being around and love a lot. It's a great win and a lot of momentum going into next week," Johnson said.

Johnson had not taken a snap since the season-opener. But he was ready in Game 11.

"We are very proud of Jeremy. He did an excellent job," said coach Gus Malzahn. "He was really efficient in throwing the football and did a really good job leading the offense.

"Everyone is happy for him. It's a good night."

"It was Senior Night and he was prepared. He was ready to play and he played well. He hadn't played a lot this year, and I think it was good for him to experience that."

Johnson said his teammates were behind him as it became clear White would not play.

"They love me. I love them. They played hard for me today," Johnson said. "And if next week if I'm called up, they'll play hard for me next week as well. We're just going to go out, this senior class, give them some momentum going into next year."

But before next year is next Saturday's Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa. Johnson said he's not sure if White will be healthy enough to play. Malzahn said he hopes to know White's status by at least Tuesday.

"We're going to see what is happening next week, see how he's feeling" Johnson said. "But if I'm called up, I'll be ready. There's no fear in me, nor the team."
