AUBURN, Ala. - Former All-American Blayne Barber finished in a four-way tie for runner-up at the RSM Classic PGA Tour event at Sea Island, Ga., falling to Mackenzie Hughes in a 3-hole playoff on Monday. It is the best finish of his four-year career on the PGA Tour.
Barber, who is trained by Auburn Head Coach Nick Clinard, finished at 17-under 63-68-68-66—265 after four rounds of play and entered a playoff with Hughes, Camilo Villegas, Henrik Norlander and Billy Horschel.
Barber, Hughes, Villegas and Norlander pared the par 4, 18th on the first two playoff holes late Sunday night before play was suspended due to darkness. The playoff resumed Monday morning as Hughes birdied the par 3, 17th and watched the others each miss a birdie putt from the green to secure the win.
Barber, a member of the 2011 and 2012 Arnold Palmer Cup USA teams at Auburn, is now ranked 29th in the 2017 FedEx Cup rankings after four events, earning $409,514.
Barber has played in 60 career PGA Tour events making the cut in 32 with 11 top-25 and six top-10 finishes.
