AUBURN, Ala. - Casie Ramsier was selected as a 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American, announced by the organization.
Ramsier, a 2015 Academic All-American, becomes just the third player in program history to earn the award in back-to-back seasons. Jenn Johnson was a two-time honoree during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns, while Katy Frierson earned the award in 2010 and 2011.
Already a graduate suma cum laude from the Harbert School of Business in just three years, Ramsier holds bachelor's degrees in accounting and finance, and is currently on course to receive a master's degree in accountancy at the end of her competition-eligible four years.
The 2015 and 2016 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the first in program history, has also achieved recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as an All-American and a Scholar All-American last season.
Ramsier, a First Team All-SEC choice this season, has cemented her name into the program record books.
The Dallas, Texas native has started 88 matches in her career, placing second all-time, and has scored the second-most goals by an Auburn player with 37, with 13 of those marked as game-winners, topping the record book. Ramsier touts the third-highest career point total with 94 and is tied for 10th all-time with 20 assists.
In 2016 alone, the senior has placed the third-best goal total in a season with 12. Six of those have gone down as match-winners, tied for the most ever in a single season. She's also totaled 31 points this campaign which currently sits as the fourth-highest in a season.
Ramsier also made history for Auburn when she was named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List before the season started. She is just the second player ever to be on the list for the nation's top player as Katy Frierson was up for the award in 2010 and 2011.
Ramsier leads her team into the program's first ever NCAA Quarterfinal match this Friday afternoon against No. 7 USC at 1 p.m. PT/3 p.m. CT in Los Angeles.
