AUBURN, Ala. - A good bowl trip is in Auburn's future, and the possibilities include the Sugar Bowl. The Tigers will go there if they can hold their place in the College Football Playoff rankings through Saturday's conference championship games.

The Tigers were ranked 14th Tuesday night in the latest playoff rankings, and could be headed to the Sugar Bowl if Alabama beats Florida in Saturday's Southeastern Conference Championship Game in Atlanta. If that happens, and if Tigers maintain their status as the second-highest ranked SEC team in the playoff standings, the Sugar Bowl will take Auburn as one of the 12 teams that qualify for the New Year's Six bowls.

A bowl trip to Florida is also a possibility.

Auburn, 8-4 overall, dropped one spot in the College Football Playoff ranking after last Saturday's 30-12 loss to No. 1 Alabama. The Tigers finished in a tie for second in the SEC West and are tied for the second-most win in the league.

Auburn was ranked 18th in the Associated Press poll and 19th in the coaches poll Sunday.
