AUBURN, Ala. - Kamryn Pettway didn't play in all the games, but when he did, he made them count.
The Auburn running back who is among the Southeastern Conference's rushing leaders was one of three Tigers named first-team All-SEC by the league coaches Monday. Six Tigers helped fill the first and second-team All-SEC rosters.
Joining Pettway on the All-SEC first team are defensive end Carl Lawson and place-kicker Daniel Carlson. Auburn players named to the second team are offensive linemen Braden Smith and Alex Kozan, and defensive linemen Montravius Adams.
Pettway carried the ball in just eight games, and in two of them he was limited to just 12 carries. But he still piled up 1,123 yards, gaining 770 of those in a four-game stretch against Mississippi State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Pettway's 124.8 rushing yards per game leads the SEC.
Coach Gus Malzahn says he expects Pettway, slowed by a leg injury late in the season, to be healthy when Auburn plays Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2.
Carlson, a finalist for the Lou Groza Award as the nation's best kicker, leads the SEC in scoring. He was accurate as ever kicking field goals, hitting 26 of 30 tries. Two of his misses were blocked. He even scored a touchdown on a fake.
He scored all the points in Auburn's 18-13 win over LSU, and his six field goals tied an SEC record.
Lawson leads Auburn with 12½ tackles for a loss and nine sacks in a defensive line that is one of the tops in college football.
Smith and Kozan helped power Auburn to the top of the SEC rushing charts, gaining 3,342 yards.
Adams had his best season, with 39 tackles including 8½ for a loss with 4½ sacks. He intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles, one he turned into a touchdown against Mississippi State.
