AUBURN, Ala. - Singles victories in the four, five and six spots carried No. 56 Auburn to a 4-3 win at Clemson on Sunday in men's tennis.
The Tigers captured the doubles point, with a pair of 7-5 wins. Conner Huertas del Pino and Brandon Laubser were winners on court three over Daffra Sanon and Robert Dudley, and then Max Hinnisdaels and Olle Thestrup, playing in the second spot, clinched the point with a win over Arturo Pizano and Austin Ansari.
In singles, Auburn got a quick straight set victory from Dante Saleh on court four, by a score of 6-2, 6-1 over Pizano, and then Thesrup was a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Ansari at number five. After wins by Clemson in the top three spots, the match came down to court six, where freshman Brandon Laubser captured a three-set win over Brent Lett by a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 score to clinch the match.
The Tigers are now 5-2 on the season. Clemson is 4-5. Auburn is back in action Friday at home with a pair of matches against Mercer. All home matches are played at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
