Auburn's women's swimming and diving program has been named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team. The award is in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2016 fall semester.
Auburn's women posted a 3.19 GPA this past fall, making it a part of the 91 percent of Division I women's teams to meet the 3.0 threshold.
"I am very proud of our women for the tremendous effort they display both in the pool and in the classroom," associate head coach Lauren Hancock said. "It takes a lot of drive and dedication to be a top-25 program both in and out of the water and this is a testament to the work these ladies have given to the team."
This is the ninth straight semester that Auburn's women were recognized for their work in the classroom.
"Each semester we celebrate the small victories along the way, from grade improvements to an A on a big test, that help create the final puzzle of a successful program, one that achieves at the highest level in and out of the classroom," Hancock said. "Along with achieving a team 3.19, we had three women earn a 4.0 (Lauren Dunn, Genny Pittman and Zoe Thatcher). Hard work works!"
The Southeastern Conference Championships begin on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Knoxville, Tenn., and run through Saturday, Feb. 18.
