AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn senior Katie Frerking was named to the Academic All-District Team for women's basketball for the second straight season, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Frerking, a senior from Johns Creek, Ga., was one of three players from the SEC named to an all-district team, joining South Carolina junior Kaela Davis and Kentucky junior Alyssa Rice. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.74 and is enrolled in the Harbert College of Business.
On the court, Frerking is Auburn's leader in three categories ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" scoring (16.6 points/game), rebounding (6.2/game) and steals (2.7/game). She is ninth in the SEC in scoring overall and fourth in SEC play, averaging 17.8 points in conference games. Frerking has five double-doubles this season and two games where she has scored 30-plus points, including a 32-point effort at Texas A&M on Feb. 5.
Frerking now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-American. She and former Auburn standout Blanche Alverson are the only two Auburn women's basketball players to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors; Alverson was a three-time honoree from 2011-13.
