No. 15 Tigers t-4th after All-American Intercollegiate 1st and 2nd rounds

HUMBLE, Texas - No. 15 Auburn Men's Golf is t-4th after the first and second rounds of the All-American Intercollegiate carding an 8-under 280 Saturday at the AAI Course at the Golf Club of Houston.

The tournament began on Friday, however it was delayed twice due to inclement weather and darkness. First round play concluded this morning followed immediately by the start of the second round.

The Tigers (3-under 293-280--573) are tied with co-host Rice (290-283-573). No. 8 Baylor leads at 24-under 284-268-552.

All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest leads the Tigers at 1-under 72-71-143 to tie for 15th. The Southlake, Texas, native carded four birdies in the first round on Nos. 1, 3, 8 and 13 and three more in the second on Nos. 4, 8 and 9.

Sophomores Trace Crowe and Jacob Solomon and freshman Jovan Rebula are t-25th at even-par 144. Crowe (74-70-144) tallied four birdies on Nos. 5, 12, 15 and 18 as part of a 2-under second round. Solomon (72-72-144) birdied a pair in each of the first two rounds while Rebula (75-69-144) carded six birdies on Saturday on Nos. 1, 4, 8, 12, 15 and 18.

Senior Will Long is a shot back off the trio at 1-over 75-70-145. The Gastonia, N.C., native tallied six birdies in the second round, including four of the final six holes on Nos. 13, 15, 16 and 18.

Senior Ryan Benton, playing as an individual, used a strong 5-under 67 second round that included six birdies on Nos. 3, 6 and 9 on the front and 12, 14 and 17 on the back to climb to a tie Long for 37th at 1-over 78-67-145.

No. 1 Vanderbilt is second at 12-under 564 followed by Houston (283-287-570), Auburn, Rice, South Carolina (292-282-574), McNeese State (296-280-576), Southeastern Louisiana (292-284-576), Louisiana Tech (291-291-582) and UTSA (296-288-584).

SMU and Lamar are tied for 11th at 9-over 585 followed by Charlotte (293-294-587), Wisconsin (299-288-587), Sam Houston State (304-289-593), New Mexico State (298-295-593), Samford (297-298-595) and Houston Baptist (300-297-597).

Baylor's Cooper Dossey holds the individual lead at 10-under 68-66-134.

The All-American Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow. The Tigers will tee off No. 1 at 8:48 CT with Rice and South Carolina. Live scoring can be found at Golfstat.
