WAIKOLOA, Hi. - Auburn men's golf sophomore Trace Crowe tied for 10th at the Amer Ari Invitational, carding a 5-under 67 on Saturday at the Kings' Crossings Course at the Waikoloa Beach Resort in Waikoloa, Hawaii, to finish at 9-under 73-67-67-207. No. 7 Auburn finished 13th at 4-over 290-292-286-868.
No. 15 Texas Tech won the event with a 44-under 270-272-278-820.
Crowe, competing as an individual, tied yesterday's career-low with a 67 on Saturday to climb 16 spots. The Bluffton, S.C., native eagled the par-5 fourth and birdied Nos. 9, 10, 14 and 18.
All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest carded a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 40th at 2-under 70-71-73-214. Senior Will Long, the No. 4 rated player in collegiate golf, tallied four birdies as part of a 1-under 71 final round to finish a shot back from Gilchrest at 1-under 71-73-71-215 to t-45th.
Senior Ryan Benton t-60th at 2-over 75-73-70-218, sophomore Jacob Solomon t-75th at 74-75-72-221 and junior Ben Schlottman t-112th with a 78-77-74-229.
Freshman Jovan Rebula, also playing as an individual, carded five birdies on Nos. 2, 4, 5, 10 and 18 as part of an even-par final round to t-50th at even-par 68-75-72-216.
No. 6 Southern California finished runner-up 36-under 828 followed by No. 17 Oregon (277-838), Arizona State (276-841), No. 24 Colorado (281-841), No. 8 Stanford (283-843), No. 5 Oklahoma State (287-851), UCLA (285-851), Georgia Tech (285-851) and No. 12 Texas (285-851).
TCU finished 11th at 288-853 followed by St. Mary's (CA) (286-865), Auburn, San Jose State (291-872), Oregon State (296-872), UC Davis (293-875), Hawaii (298-882), Osaka Gakuin University (297-887), Pacific (295-888), Chico State (295-890) and host Hawaii-Hilo (302-906).
Southern California's Rico Hoey (67=63-70-200), Arizona State's Jared duToit (64-70-66-200) and Texas Tech's Fredrik Nilehn (66-67-67-200) tied for medalist honors at 16-under.
The Tigers return to action Feb. 17-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston in Houston, Texas.
