AUBURN, Ala. - The Wilson/DeMarini Classic came to a close Sunday afternoon with the No. 2 Auburn softball team prevailing over the College of Charleston, 8-0 in five innings. The Tigers (19-2) drew nine walks and had five hits in the contest.

"Our philosophy is that we attack our zone," said head coach Clint Myers. "When we attack our zone, we get a lot of walks. It's the ability to go out and make [opposing pitchers] come to the plate."
In the circle, Kaylee Carlson and Makayla Martin combined to allow just three hits in five shutout innings.
Kasey Cooper led the offense with a 2-for-3 showing and matched a season-high with four RBI. Jenna Abbott, Haley Fagan and Kendall Veach rounded out the day with one hit apiece.
Morgan Podany and Carlee Wallace each reached base twice by way of walks and combined to score three of the team's eight runs.
After a scoreless first inning, the Tigers got on the board in the home half of the second.
Abbott drew a leadoff walk and worked her way to second on a wild pitch. After consecutive walks from Podany and Victoria Draper, Abbott scored from third on a passed ball to make it 1-0.
Following a Wallace walk to load the bases, Cooper peppered a double off the wall in left-center to score two and extend Auburn's lead to 3-0.
In the third, Veach opened with a double. Abbott then brought her in with a first-pitch-swinging double to the left-center alley to make it 4-0. The Tigers would then load the bases up by way of two more walks.
Sydne Waldrop scored on a passed ball, while Casey McCrackin and Podany crossed the plate on a single to center by Cooper to extend the margin to seven.
Fagan roped an RBI single to left to cap the scoring in the frame and make it 8-0 in favor of the home team.
Martin came on and closed the door shut in the last two stanzas, guiding the Tigers to their 11th shutout of 2017.
Auburn entertains Alabama State Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before facing LSU for a three-game series, March 10-12, at Jane B. Moore Field.
