BANDON, Ore. - No. 19 Auburn Men's Golf is fourth after the Bandon Dunes Championship opening round, carding a 4-under 284 at the Old MacDonald Course at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
The Tigers are nine strokes behind No. 14 Oregon (-13) and one stroke back off No. 9 Texas Tech and No. 21 Oregon (-5).
Sophomore Jacob Solomon is tied for sixth at 3-under 69. The Dublin, Calif., native eagled the par-5 fourth and birdied on Nos. 1, 6, 13 and 15. Fellow sophomore Trace Crowe is t-18th at 1-under 71.
Crowe, coming off a season-best t-4th finish at the Tiger Invitational, carded five birdies on Nos. 4, 6, 7, 14 and 15.
Freshman Jovan Rebula, the reigning SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week, and All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest are tied for 29th at even-par.
Seniors Ryan Benton and Will Long are in a 9-way tie for 71st at 5-over 77 while All-America junior Ben Schlottman is t-84th with a 79. Benton and Schlottman are playing as individuals.
No. 18 Texas A&M, Oregon State and Georgia State are tied for fifth at 2-under 286 followed by Denver (289), Washington State (290), Fresno State (291), Boise State (291), host-Gonzaga (292), San Jose State (293), CSU-Northridge (296), Utah Valley (297) and Seattle University (298).
Texas Tech's Hannes Ronneblad leads the field at 7-under 65.
