The final qualification step for NCAA divers begins on Monday at Auburn's James E. Martin Aquatics Center when the Zone B Championships are contested. The three-day meet showcases the top divers from around the southeast as they try to earn one of the coveted spots in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
"This is our one chance to advance to the NCAA Championships," Auburn diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "It is a tremendous advantage (to host). We dive in that pool every single day. We are comfortable in the environment and we get the added support of our home community."
Scott Lazeroff, Pete Turnham, Alison Maillard, Maddie Cox and Miranda Telmanik have all qualified for the Zone Championships and will be competing this week.
For the men, the top four finishers on all three boards are automatic qualifiers while for the women it is the top five finishers. The remaining spots will be filled by at-large finishers.
Other schools with divers competing include: Alabama, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, UNC Wilmington, NC State, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Live round-by-round results will be available on divemeets.com.
