Jovan Rebula named SEC Men's Freshman Golfer of the Week

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn Men's Golf freshman Jovan Rebula has been named SEC Men's Freshman Golfer of the Week following his t-8th finish at the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner, the league office announced Wednesday.

Rebula, a native of George, South Africa, carded a 5-under 69-72-70-211 with a total of 17 birdies over three days of competition to help lead the Tigers to a five-stroke win.

"I'm really proud of Jovan. He had a really nice week," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "He's a fine young man that is huge asset to our program. He continues to improve and play well, so I'm very excited for his future."

Rebula started the Tiger Invitational with a 3-under 69 in the opening round, his fifth round in the 60s this season. He has totaled 12 rounds at par or better for the year.

Rebula is averaging 71.61 strokes through six events played this season. He has two top-10 and four top-25 finishes, finishing eighth at the Jerry Pate National, t-25th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and t-25th at the All American Intercollegiate.

Auburn returns to action at the Bandon Dunes Championship at the Old MacDonald in Bandon Ore., March 12-14.
