AUBURN, Ala. - Former Auburn Men’s Golf All-American Jason Dufner is in an 8-way tie for fourth after the opening round of the 2017 Masters Tournament, carding a 1-under 71 Thursday at the Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Ga.

Dufner was tied for the lead after 14 holes at 3-under before bogeying the par-5 15th and 18th. The Cleveland, Ohio, native carded three birdies on the front nine on Nos. 2, 6 and 8, and two on the back on Nos. 13 and 14.

Dufner is seeking his second major championship win of his career this week. He became the first former Tiger in school history to win a major after winning the 2013 PGA Championship.

Dufner, a three-time All-SEC selection at Auburn, has four wins and 41 top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour in his career. He is currently 65th in the FedEx Cup Rankings and has six top-25 finishes on the Tour this season.

Charley Hoffman leads the field at 7-under 65. William McGirt is second at 3-under 69 and Lee Westwood is third at 2-under 70.

Dufner tees off round two on No. 1 at 7:55 am CT with Ernie Els and Bernd Wiesberger.
