AUBURN, Ala. -- Isabella Lopez, a guard from Weston, Fla., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Auburn, head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy announced Monday.
Lopez, a 5-7 point guard/shooting guard from Northeast High School in Oakland Park, Fla., helped her team to the Florida Class 7A semifinals each of the last two seasons and a runner-up finish in 2015-16.
"Isabella can play the point guard position, she can play the two-guard position," Williams-Flournoy said. "She's got great ball-handling skills, and she's a very good shooter, so she definitely brings a lot to the table. But I think the biggest thing she brings is her hard work. When you think about how we play, she just fits that perfectly. She's not going to overwhelm you with her size, but her heart for the game is irreplaceable."
As a junior, she averaged 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.7 steals per game. She was a two-year honorable mention all-state selection and holds the record for the best 3-point percentage in Broward County. She was also selected to take part in team trials for the USA Basketball U16 and U17 teams in 2015 and 2016.
Lopez is the fourth player to sign with Auburn for the 2017-18 season. She joins Abigayle Jackson, Unique Thompson and Kiyae White, who all signed in November.
