AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Sophomore Richie Sivalls was selected Tuesday to the SEC Community Service Team in men's tennis, recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
The men's tennis representative on Auburn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Sivalls has been involved with activities such as the Toys for Tots annual collection and distribution, Downtown Auburn Trick or Treat festival, annual campus Student-Athlete Day, Beat Bama food drive and the SAAC clothing drive. When home in Midland, Texas, Sivalls is active as a Keep Midland Beautiful volunteer and part of a youth choir that sings at funerals.
Others named to the team included Texas A&M's Richie Colunga, Tennessee's Sunay Bhat, Mississippi State's Nuno Borges, LSU's Justin Butsch, Georgia's Walker Duncan, Florida's McClain Kessler, Arkansas' Branch Terrell, Kentucky's Beck Pennington, South Carolina's Thomas Mayronne, and Alabama's Ritchie Kruunenberg. All league-sponsored sports have recognized a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003.
Auburn opens SEC championship tournament play next week. The Tigers, seeded No. 11, will face No. 6 Ole Miss on Thursday, April 27, in an 8 a.m. CT match. Hosted by Tennessee, all SEC tournament action will take place at Barksdale Stadium and the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville. Admission is free.
