No. 14 Alizee Michaud and Taylor Russo defeated No. 9 Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan in doubles, but Auburn fell to top-ranked Florida in Southeastern Conference play on Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.
"Today was a tough match against a tough team," Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. "Allie and Taylor played the best doubles I have seen them play all season today, but we just couldn't get it going. We will have to continue to improve every day and finish our regular season strong."
Auburn fell behind early after Florida took a hard fought doubles point. With a win on court two, Michaud and Russo improved to 17-7 (2-3 SEC) in doubles for the season. Florida clenched the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
In singles, Florida clenched the match with wins on courts two, three and four.
The Tigers will return to action this week against rival Alabama April 7 in Tuscaloosa and then turn around and travel to Oxford, Miss. for to make up the match against Ole Miss on April 12. Auburn will return home to Yarbrough tennis center on April 14 and 16 to wrap up the regular season against Missouri and Arkansas.
