Gilchrest, Crowe t-10th, Men's Golf 7th after SEC Championship Day 1

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Auburn Men's Golf senior Matt Gilchrest and sophomore Trace Crowe are tied for 10th after the first two rounds at the SEC Championship, carding a 1-under 139 Friday at the par-70 Seaside Course.

No. 19 Auburn is seventh at 5-over 278-287-565. No. 15 Texas A&M leads the field at 5-under 273-282-555.

Gilchrest, who finished third at the SEC Championship last season, carded a 1-over 71 in the opening round and followed with a 2-under 68 that included a trio of birdies and just one bogey.

Crowe, coming off his first win of the season at the Gary Koch Invitational, tallied five birdies over two rounds with a 70-69-139. The Bluffton, S.C., native has a team-high nine rounds in the 60s for the year.

Freshman Jovan Rebula is tied for 26th at 3-over 65-78-143. The George, South Africa product was in second following the first round of play after carding a 5-under 65 with birdies on Nos. 3, 4 and 7 on the front and Nos. 11, 15 and 16 on the back.

Sophomore Jacob Solomon is t-41st at 72-74-146 while senior Will Long is t-62nd at 77-76-153.

No. 3 Vanderbilt sits in second at 3-under 276-281-557 followed by No. 6 Florida (269-289-558), No. 7 LSU (278-284-562), Alabama (275-288-563), No. 24 Missouri (284-279-563), Auburn, South Carolina (283-286-569) No. 23 Ole Miss (282-290-572) and No. 25 Georgia (291-289-580).

Kentucky is 11th at 292-289-581 while Arkansas (299-292-591), Tennessee (301-294-595) and Mississippi State (298-298-596) round out the field.

Florida's Alejandro Tosti holds the individual lead at 7-under 64-69-133.

The top eight teams following the conclusion of Saturday's round will make the cut for match play beginning on Sunday.
