AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn No. 28 Ole Miss ended Auburn's SEC men's tennis tournament run Thursday morning with a 4-1 win in a second-round match played in doors at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville.
"We came up against a very hot Ole Miss team today that has played extremely well over the past three weeks," Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said. "They carried that momentum into the tournament. Our guys fought hard to keep the match tight, but in the end, Ole Miss capitalized on the opportunities."
Doubles action was closely contested, but Ole Miss prevailed 6-4 on courts one and two to take the doubles point.
Brandon Laubser tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles over Robert Mounger on court six, but the Rebels won the first set on the other five courts and clinched the team win with straight-set victories on courts three, four and five.
The Tigers finish the season at 13-15 and 3-9 in SEC action.
