AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Mike Rojas hit a bases-clearing double as part of an eight-run third inning, but No. 7 Auburn baseball fell 11-8 to Georgia Tech Tuesday at Plainsman Park.

"I thought the game turned in the first inning going 22 minutes and getting one out, and giving up five runs," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "I thought it turned right out the gate by not being able to come out and attack and get the game underway from our starter. I felt like that's what we were chasing the whole ballgame. We've played so well and done so many things. You don't have to play perfect. This was a long contest. I thought there at the end, in the last three innings, they focused longer for a longer period of time than we were willing to tonight."

Georgia Tech (16-11) wasted no time taking a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Auburn starter Gabe Klobosits allowed five and managed only one out.

Daniel Sprinkle (0-4) pitched 3.1 innings of relief with five strikeouts. He allowed two runs. Calvin Coker allowed two runs (one earned) in 3.2 innings pitched with three strikeouts.

Jarvis finished with two hits and two RBI. Jonah Todd and Robert each had two hits.

The exclamation point in the frame was the 3-run double by the catcher Rojas, the first three RBI of the sophomore's career.

The Jackets scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth to re-take the lead 9-8. GT added two more on a 2-run homer by Coleman Poje for the final advantage.

Poje was 2-for-4 with the homer, three RBI and scored three times. Ryan Peurifoy had three hits. Kel Johnson and had two doubles and two RBI.
