AUBURN, Ala. - Alison Maillard has been named the SEC Female Freshman Diver of the Year by a vote of the league's head coaches it was announced on Thursday.
Maillard, from Houston, Texas, grabbed three top-nine finishes at the SEC Championships in Knoxville. She scored an eighth-place finish on both the 3-meter and platform and a ninth-place finish on the 1-meter. Of the entire field, she was the only freshman to grab even one top-nine finish.
Maillard qualified for the NCAA Championships on both the 1- and 3-meter springboards, placing 12th on the 1-meter and 20th on the 3-meter. Her 12th-place finish on the 1-meter earned her honorable mention All-America honors, becoming Auburn's first female diver to score points in a springboard event since 2012 and the first Auburn freshman to ever score on the 1-meter at the national championships.
Maillard is Auburn's second-ever SEC Female Freshman Diver of the Year, joining Corey Gerlach (2006).
