AUBURN, Ala. - Celebrating Senior Day Sunday, No. 50 Auburn could not best No. 7 Texas A&M, as the Aggies gained a 4-0 SEC win Sunday afternoon at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
"Hats off to Texas A&M; they're a great team," Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said. "When you go up against a Top 10 team, you have to make sure you bring it and they were on their game today. I felt like our guys fought hard, and the guys kept fighting. It's obviously not the way the seniors want to go out, but all three of them have had an unbelievable career here."
Edward Nguyen and Brandon Laubser won a 6-4 doubles victory on court two over the Aggies' Jordi Arconada and Hady Habib, and Dante Saleh and Olle Thestrup were tied 5-5 in their doubles match on court three before A&M clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win.
Texas A&M went on to win the first set of all six singles matches and took the team win with victories on courts six, one and
Auburn is now 13-12 and 3-7 in SEC action, while Texas A&M is now 17-5 and 10-1 in SEC play.
Auburn seniors Max Hinnisdaels, Conner Huertas del Pino and Dante Saleh were honored during Sunday afternoon's match.
Sunday morning, Auburn posted a 4-0 win over Alabama A&M using many of its reserve players.
Auburn concludes the regular season on the road next week playing at South Carolina on Friday and at Florida on Sunday. The SEC tournament is April 26-30 at Tennessee.
