May 1, 2017 AUBURN, Ala. - In partnership with USA Softball, Auburn University is set to host the USA Softball Women's National Team for a pair of exhibitions, July 22 at Jane B. Moore Field.
"We can't be any more honored to have Team USA coming to Alabama and this great city of Auburn," said Natalie Norman, State Commissioner, USA Softball of Alabama. "It's a great opportunity for the citizens of Auburn and the state of Alabama to see the best players in the world playing. It's thrilling for us to watch future Olympians."
"It's a great honor for the city of Auburn and for our community," said Mayor Pro Tem Ron Anders. "It's just another example of the great partnership between our university and our city, our tourism and our athletic department.
"This goes on all the time in our community. It's one of the reasons Auburn is a special and unique place. We all come together to put our best foot forward."
Team USA member Kasey Cooper and the Red, White and Blue begins its Alabama tour with an exhibition doubleheader July 20 in Tuscaloosa.
The team will then make the trip to The Plains for two games July 22 at Jane B. Moore Field, with first pitch times slated for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
"We're very excited to have the national team play here at Auburn," stated head coach Clint Myers. "We have the best field and the best fans in the country. People will come by the thousands to watch Kasey Cooper and Team USA."
The family event is also set to hold a camp that Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Auburn softball complex. The camp includes a player meet-and-greet where fans can mingle with Team USA players.
Later in the evening, the two exhibitions will feature the national team taking on an Alabama all-star team, made up of current collegiate players from across the state. An autograph session will follow the final game.
