AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn junior Andie Dikosavljevic earned the ITA/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship of the Southern Region for women's tennis, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday. Head coach Lauren Spencer was also named ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
"Andie is a leader by example on and off the court," Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. "She is always positive, hardworking and respectable to her opponents. She has made a huge impact on our team and we are very proud of her."
Dikosavljevic is just the third Tiger to earn the accolade, joining Jackie Kasler (2014) and Jen Pfeifler (2015). The Australia native currently 11th all-time at Auburn with 65 singles wins and is set to compete in the NCAA Singles Championships in Athens, Ga. immediately following the team championships.
Spencer earned Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight season after leading the Tigers to a program record 25 wins in 2017. Auburn also advanced to the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships for the first time in school history and won the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic for the first time since 1984.
The Tigers will return to action Friday in Athens, Ga. against No. 7 Texas Tech, in the NCAA Round of 16. Auburn defeated the Red Raiders, 4-2 in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Championship game earlier in the season.
