May 2, 2017 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Senior infielder Kasey Cooper has been selected as the SEC Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday. She shares the honor with Kylan Becker of Ole Miss.
Cooper became the SEC's all-time leader in career RBI and now has 266 to her name. She paced the Tigers to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep of league foe Mississippi State. Cooper passed Charlotte Morgan of Alabama for the RBI crown and now sits ninth all-time in NCAA history.
The Dothan, Ala. native hit .455 with two home runs and seven RBI. She led the team in slugging at 1.000 and touted a team-high .625 on-base percentage after reaching base in 10 of 16 plate appearances.
Cooper hit .429 on the week with runners on base and successfully advanced runners at a .818 clip.
In the last 10 games, Cooper has totaled nine RBI by way of four extra-base hits, including two roundtrippers. She has reached base safely in 13 of her last 15 contests, including 11 against SEC foes.
Cooper is the fourth player from Auburn to receive recognition from the league office this season, joining Haley Fagan, Alyssa Rivera and Carlee Wallace.
Cooper and the Tigers wrap up the regular season at Alabama, May 5-7.
