AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn track and field sophomore Xavier Coakley and senior Marshay Ryan have been named to the Southeastern Conference Men's and Women's Community Service Teams, the league announced Thursday.
The conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts.
This is the second-consecutive season that Ryan has garnered SEC Community Service Honors. A five time All-American, Ryan has been very active off of the track throughout her four years with the Tigers. Working closely with her local church, she has been working in a community outreach program to minister to children in the Auburn/Opelika area.
A 2016 SEC All-Freshman selection, Coakley has been active in the area schools in his time with Auburn. This season, the Bahamas native spent time at Mills Road Primary School in Auburn, Ala. mentoring and reading to children. He has also been active in other smaller projects around the community.
