Auburn women's basketball seniors Jazmine Jones and Jessica Jones are completing an internship this summer in New York City. Both communication majors, the twin sisters spoke with AuburnTigers.com about their experience so far in the Big Apple.

Tell us about the company you're working for.
JESS: We are working for Translation which is a advertising agency. They are located right in Times Square in New York City. They believe that brands that lead in culture are more successful than brands that follow culture. Translation does things like social campaigns, TV spots, and brand launches.

How did you get set up with Translation?
JAZ: Our cousin did this internship last year and when she told us about it I knew it was something that I was interested in.

Who are some of Translation's main clients?
JESS/JAZ: State Farm, NBA, Apple Music, NFL, Champs, Kaiser Permanente

Have you gotten to meet anyone famous?
JESS/JAZ: No, not yet!

What are some projects you've worked on?
JESS: I am working as an account for State Farm. I have also worked on some of the upcoming NBA campaigns for the 2017-18 basketball season.

JAZ: I've been working on many different projects. One project is with the Caribbean island St. Lucia. We are working with finding ways to promote tourist visits and discuss the "rareness" of the island. With the NBA, they have a campaign called "I'm Why." I've been finding interesting stories about NBA players and anything involving the teams and doing research. We have ideas for campaign spots for the upcoming season. We also are working on an internship project that deals with Snapchat, DJ Khaled, and Champs Sports.

How are you applying this to your major?
JESS: Having communication as my major really applies to every job. I've always been interested in advertising and wanted to see how much of impact my major would have in this industry. I've learned that I am able to apply the skills I have learned for communication in this job by talking directly to the client, as well relaying information to the strategic and creative teams here at Translations.

JAZ: My major is communication and although this isn't dealing with that directly, it has encouraged me to learn more about the advertising world.

What are you looking to do after you graduate?
JESS: After I graduate I am looking to start a career in either the field of communication or advertising. I have really enjoyed being at this advertising agency and have learned that they get to be a part of exciting events happening with popular brands.

JAZ: After I graduate, I will be interested in looking into different fields of work with communication.

What have you enjoyed the most about living in New York?
JESS: It is very different from North Carolina and Alabama, so it definitely took some time to get used to. I love that there is always something going on in NYC, and there are many different historical sites to explore. The shopping isn't bad either!

JAZ: The best thing about living in New York is that there is always something fun going on. I never get bored here and everything is so convenient!

Is it going to be difficult coming back to Auburn after spending the summer in NYC?
JESS: No, I don't think it will be. I think NYC is a great city to visit, but I miss Auburn and can't wait to get back to working out with my team!

JAZ: Yes it will be, but I also miss being around my team!

Have you been able to work out and train during your internship?
JESS/JAZ: Yes we have. We go to the gym everyday after work, which has a court as well as a weight room.

What are you most looking forward to about your senior season?
JESS/JAZ: We are excited about making memories with our team and getting some big wins this season. These past years have flown by and we really can't believe we're seniors, but we plan to make the most out of it!
