Lloyd, Gonzalez compete on Day 2 of World Championships

Former Auburn swimmer Natasha Lloyd and incoming freshman Hugo Gonzalez both competed in their first events of the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest on Monday.

Lloyd, from New Zealand, swam a 1:10.11 to finish 29th in the 100m breaststroke. She will also swim the 200 breaststroke and the 4x100 medley relay.

Gonzalez, from Spain, swam a 55.05 to finish 23rd in the 100m backstroke. He will also swim the 200 back and the 200 IM.

Competing on Tuesday from Auburn will be Luis Martinez of Guatemala in the 200m butterfly and Zane Grothe of the USA in the 800m freestyle. Martinez will be in heat 2 (of 5), lane 3, while Grothe will be in heat 4 (of 4), lane 2.

The swimming competition is being be held at the Danube Arena.
