AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Former Auburn women's basketball player Katie Frerking has signed a professional contact with LuleÃÆ'Æ'¥ Basket in Sweden, the club announced Thursday.
Frerking, who graduated from Auburn in May, was the Tigers' top player as a senior, leading Auburn in scoring (15.7 ppg), rebounding (6.3/game), assists (3.0/game) and steals (2.6/game). She was named the SEC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's basketball in addition to earning nods to the All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Defensive Team.
"I'm so excited about signing my contract and making everything official," Frerking said. "I can't wait to meet all of my new coaches and teammates and experience a new culture and part of the world. To say I'm thankful for the opportunity ahead of me is an understatement. I'm so ready to get over to LuleÃÆ'Æ'¥ and get to work!"
The Johns Creek, Ga., native finished her Auburn career as one of two players in Auburn history with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists and 200 steals. She scored 1,271 career points (20th all-time at Auburn) along with 627 rebounds (18th), 307 assists (12th) and 236 steals (6th). She also finished eighth in Auburn history in 3-point field goals (146). Frerking recorded eight double-doubles during her career, including six as a senior.
LuleÃÆ'Æ'¥, which plays in Sweden's top division, has won the league title four straight seasons.
