AUBURN, Ala. - Sophomore Austin Wiley and USA Basketball notched its largest margin of victory by trouncing Mali 117-69 in the FIBA U19 World Cup round of 16 in Cairo, Egypt at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Hall 2 on Wednesday.
Wiley, the team's captain, was saddled with foul trouble and played less than five minutes each in both halves to finish with two points, three rebounds and a steal in 9:49. He was 1-of-2 from the field.
The Hoover, Ala., native is averaging 8.0 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds in only 16.8 minutes per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the foul line.
The United States (4-0) led Mali (0-4) 30-10 after the first quarter, 50-31 at the half and 76-51 after the third. The USA advances to Friday's quarterfinals at a time to be determined against the winner of Germany and New Zealand on Wednesday at 1 pm CT.
Germany (2-1) finished as the Group B runner-up by defeating both Puerto Rico 69-49 and host Egypt 66-40 while losing to Lithuania 98-79. New Zealand (1-2) finished third in Group A by defeating Korea 88-81 and losing to France 80-69 and Argentina 74-70.
Wiley had 16 points and 16 rebounds in Sunday's win over Angola and had five points and eight rebounds vs. Iran in the opener.

Winners in the round of 16 will advance to Friday's medal quarterfinals, while the remaining teams will continue playing out for classification.
The medal semifinals will be held Saturday, and the gold and bronze medal games on Sunday.
Wiley is vying for his second-straight gold in as many summers as he averaged 8.0 points and a team second-best 6.4 rebounds for Team USA's gold medal winner at the FIBA Men's U17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain in 2016.
The United States is looking for its third-straight gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup after winning over Serbia in 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic and defeating Croatia in 2015 in Heraklion, Greece.
