AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" With over a week and a half of practice come and gone, the Auburn volleyball team will welcome UAB in an exhibition Saturday afternoon. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. CT in Auburn Arena and admission is free.

"This is the first year of us hosting an exhibition and we really want to handle Saturday like we would a normal match," head coach Rick Nold said. "With so many newcomers, we want this to feel as much like a normal gameday as possible and not like another practice."

The 2017 edition of Auburn volleyball brings back a wealth of experience and leadership in the team's four seniors ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Courtney Crable, Jesse Earl, Alexa Filley, Macy Reece ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" and junior Brenna McIlroy. Earl and Filley are returning All-SEC performers, while now sophomore Gwyn Jones earned postseason accolades in 2016 after being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

This year's crew not only brings a handful of experienced upperclassmen, but also a wealth of newcomers. The squad welcomed four freshmen and two transfers and the group is expected to step up from the start.

Immediately following Saturday's exhibition, the Tigers will participate in the annual Fan Day held behind the Auburn Athletics Complex. The event runs from 3:30-5:30 and will feature football, volleyball, and soccer in the Indoor Practice Facility.

The Tigers open the 2017 season in Atlanta, traveling to Georgia Tech's Hyatt Regency Invitational, Aug. 25-26. Auburn opens with a match vs. the Yellow Jackets Friday and follows with tilts against No. 17 Michigan State and Furman Saturday.
