AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn women's tennis has a school-record six representatives in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings released by the International Tennis Association on Tuesday.
Senior Alizee Michaud heads a total of five Tigers set to begin the season ranked in singles, while three doubles pairs are also ranked. Both marks are the most in a single preseason ranking in school history dating back to 1981.
"These rankings are a great starting point for our players to build upon and work on as they prepare for the fall season," head coach Lauren Spencer said. "It's a huge honor to have this many players ranked heading into the season and is a product of how much hard work they have put in during their time at Auburn."
Michaud will begin the season ranked ninth in singles, tied with Fani Chifchieva in 2008 for the highest singles preseason ranking in school history. The Orlando, Fla., product has been ranked in singles in the last three ITA Preseason rankings and finished last season ranked 22nd.
Michaud and sophomore Taylor Russo also begin the season ranked second in doubles, the highest doubles ranking in school history.
Senior Andie Dikosavljevic is ranked 21st in singles followed by Russo (60th), junior Alannah Griffin (94th) and sophomore Georgie Axon (114th).
The doubles pair of Caroline Turner and Axon begin the fall campaign ranked 24th while Dikosavljevic and Griffin are ranked 28th.
